    Recognized for many years as one of the "premium" northern producers of cattle hides, the Packerland Packing Green Bay plant has had, for decades, an excellent reputation for providing hides with the best quality grain and yields of any American hides. The fed Holstein Steer hide comprises the majority of the production and is an excellent raw material source for upholstery, shoe, garment, and hand bag leather tanners.

PACKERLAND PACKING COMPANY - PLAINWELL

Location: Plainwell, Michigan

     Situated in the western part of Michigan, the Packerland Packing - Plainwell slaughter plant (formerly Murco Foods) is considered one of the high quality "state of the art" facilities with a weekly capacity of 8,000 head.

    The majority of the Plainwell hide production is comprised of the fed Holstein Native Steer hides, a primary raw hide source for tanners throughout the tanning industry. At Plainwell, the hide facility, built in 1997, is recognized as one of the most modern and up to date hide processing plants in the industry. The quality Packerland Plainwell hide enjoy an excellent reputation and continually receives "premium" quality reports and prices.

MOYER PACKING COMPANY

Location: Souderton, Pennsylvania

     Situated about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia, the Moyer Packing Company has a weekly capacity of 10,000 head per week.

    A Smithfield acquisition in 2001, Moyer Packing Company has, for over 30 years, enjoyed the reputation of being one of the premier meat packers on the East Coast. The majority of the hides produced at Moyer consists of the plump Heavy Native Steer hide selection, and these hides have earned a reputation for being an excellent hide source for automobile upholstery leather tanners. The Holstein Dairy Cow hides have long been a favorite hide source for Asian garment leather manufacturers.
